Pam McCarty is a lifetime resident of Jackson, Tennessee, and an accomplished grief counselor, author, educator, and speaker. After a long and distinguished career with The University of Memphis College of Education and the Jackson-Madison County School System, she is now retired from teaching but continues to consult for several universities.
In honor of her late daughter, Morgan, Pam co-founded the Morgan McCarty Memorial Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit that has awarded over $250,000 in college scholarships to students in West Tennessee. Her advocacy also led to the passage of a new state law for hit-and-run incidents. As a certified grief counselor, she facilitates a monthly support group for parents who have lost children and is a national speaker on bereavement. She is the author of the forthcoming memoir, YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE, A MEMOIR OF GRIEF, LOVE, AND GRACE, and is working on her second book, an anthology titled Whispers of Grief, Wings of Hope.
An active community member, Pam is a Master Gardener, a patron of the Friends of the Library, and a member of the Story Summit writing group. She lives in Jackson with her husband, Mike, and enjoys traveling, spinning classes, and sweet tea.
